3 Tips to Increase Trade Show Productivity

Trade shows can help sales skyrocket. However, they can also be a pain to prepare for. Don’t get overwhelmed by the process. Check out these three tips from Design Display to increase trade show productivity!

#1 Know Before You Go

Be sure to prepare thoroughly before you attend a trade show. Keep yourself organized by setting up a detailed trade show timeline. Document details you need to remember, like transportation and lodging information, addresses, and contact numbers. If you create your calendar online, you can invite team members that are attending. You can assign individual tasks, and you can set up alerts and reminders to keep yourself on track.

Do your research. Make sure that you are on top of the big and little details. The big details are things like when and where the trade show is located, where you will park, where you will stay (if it’s overnight), and which team members are going. These points should be discussed before you even start designing your plan. You should have a basic understanding of the floor layout and where in that layout your booth is going to be located. You should know your audience and what type of prospective clients you will be able to approach. You should know what you need to take with you so that you can be fully prepared, feel comfortable when you arrive, and get the most out of your trade show experience.

#2 Build Your Booth

A successful trade show display takes time, effort, and resources. Be willing to expend those. Start with the location. As soon as you decide to attend a trade show, figure out the best location for your booth based on floor layout and building plan. Submit a request for that space, and don’t be afraid to invest a little in securing it.

Once you know where your booth is going to be located and the specifications of your space, you can start planning out your space. Develop a theme based on your pitch, your logo, your company culture, or something else relevant. Consider whether you want to play music, add special effects, or play videos. If you decide to add audio visual elements, you will need to have the right equipment on hand.

Will you have a spokesperson at your booth? Will they be a team member or someone you’ve hired?

Lastly, decide what promotional items you need to purchase to able to give away at your booth. Get creative!
